Why Indoor Air Quality Matters

According to environmental experts, indoor air can often contain higher concentrations of pollutants than outdoor air. Because most people spend a significant amount of time indoors, poor air quality can have a noticeable impact.

Common signs of indoor air quality issues include:

  • Excessive dust buildup
  • Allergy and asthma symptoms
  • Persistent odors
  • Uneven humidity levels
  • Frequent respiratory irritation
  • Mold or mildew concerns
  • Stale or stuffy indoor air

Our indoor air quality experts help identify these issues and provide practical solutions that improve comfort throughout your home.

Indoor Air Quality Testing and Monitoring

Understanding what is in your air is the first step toward improving it. We offer professional indoor air quality testing and indoor air quality monitoring services to help homeowners identify potential concerns.

Our services include:

For homeowners concerned about indoor air quality in Garden Grove, CA, or the surrounding Orange County areas, testing can provide valuable insight into airborne particles, humidity levels, and other environmental factors affecting your home.

Indoor Air Quality Tips For Smoke and Chemical Air Quality Events

Wildfires and industrial accidents (like the 2026 Garden Grove incident)  can greatly affect your indoor air quality. Even after official advisories have ended, some homeowners may still be concerned about airborne particles, odors, and contaminants inside their homes.

To help improve your indoor air quality during these events, consider the following:

  • Upgrade to a MERV 13 HVAC filter to capture smaller airborne particles
  • Run your HVAC fan continuously to circulate and filter indoor air more frequently
  • Install whole-home air purification systems, such as Air Scrubbers, HEPA filtration, UV air sanitizers, or electronic air cleaners
  • Seal duct leaks to help prevent outside contaminants from entering your HVAC system
  • Replace HVAC filters more frequently during periods of poor air quality
  • Use an indoor air quality monitor to track conditions inside your home

These simple steps can help reduce airborne contaminants, improve air circulation, and create a healthier indoor environment for your family. During active air quality advisories, homeowners should also continue following guidance from local health and emergency officials.

Whole Home Air Purification Solutions

Whole-home air purification systems work directly with your HVAC system to improve air quality throughout your entire house.

Our air purification options include:

Whole Home Air Purifiers

These systems continuously filter and clean the air moving through your HVAC system, helping reduce airborne contaminants and allergens.

Air Scrubbers

Air Scrubbers actively reduce airborne particles, odors, and contaminants throughout your home. They are especially beneficial for homeowners looking to improve overall indoor air cleanliness.

Ultra Violet Light Air Sanitizers

UV air sanitizers use ultraviolet technology to help reduce biological contaminants such as mold, bacteria, and certain viruses inside your HVAC system.

Electronic Air Cleaners

Electronic air cleaners capture fine particles that traditional filters may miss. These systems help improve filtration while maintaining proper airflow.

HEPA Air Filters

HEPA filtration systems provide some of the highest levels of air filtration available for residential applications. They are highly effective at capturing very small airborne particles.

Humidity Control Solutions

Humidity levels can significantly impact comfort and indoor air quality.

Whole Home Humidifiers

Dry indoor air can lead to discomfort, dry skin, respiratory irritation, and increased static electricity. Whole-home humidifiers add moisture to the air to create a more comfortable indoor environment.

Whole Home Dehumidifiers

Excess humidity can contribute to mold growth, musty odors, and poor indoor air quality. Whole-home dehumidifiers help maintain balanced humidity levels while protecting your home.

Proper humidity control can improve comfort, protect your home, and support healthier indoor air.

HVAC Cleaning and Sanitization Services

Your HVAC system plays a major role in indoor air quality. Over time, dust, debris, and biological contaminants can accumulate inside system components.

We offer:

Duct Cleaning

Duct cleaning can improve system performance, reduce circulating dust, and help create a healthier home environment.

Duct Repair & Installation

Our duct repair and installation services help ensure conditioned air reaches every room as intended.

Duct Sealing

Professional duct sealing helps improve HVAC efficiency, enhance indoor air quality, and reduce energy waste. Properly sealed ducts also help maintain more consistent temperatures throughout your home while supporting better overall system performance.

AC Coil Cleaning

Dirty evaporator coils can reduce system efficiency and contribute to poor indoor air quality. Professional cleaning helps restore airflow and system performance.

AC Coil Sanitization

Coil sanitization helps reduce biological growth on HVAC components while supporting cleaner indoor air circulation.

Pull and Clean Services

Our Pull and Clean service provides a thorough cleaning of key HVAC components to help improve airflow, system efficiency, and indoor air quality.

These services help your HVAC system operate more efficiently while reducing contaminants that may circulate throughout your home.

Indoor Air Quality - Frequently Asked Questions

Indoor air quality refers to the quantity and quality of air inside and around buildings, homes, and other enclosed spaces. It can be affected by pollutants such as mold spores, dust mites, tobacco smoke, pet dander, radon gas, volatile organic compounds (VOCs), combustion products, and other contaminants.
Poor indoor air quality can cause a variety of symptoms, including headaches, nausea, dizziness, eye and throat irritation, fatigue, and respiratory issues. If you are experiencing any of these symptoms while in your home or workplace, it may be a sign of an indoor air quality problem.
The most common sources of indoor air pollution include building materials, furnishings, cleaning products, combustion appliances and sources (such as gas stoves or woodstoves), insects and pests, mold growth, radon gas, tobacco smoke, and pet dander.
If you notice any signs or symptoms of poor IAQ, such as increased allergies or respiratory illnesses, it is important to contact an indoor air quality professional for testing and evaluation. In addition, if your home or office has not been professionally evaluated in the past few years, it is a good idea to do so.
Common indoor air pollutants include dust, pet dander, pollen, bacteria and viruses, mold spores, volatile organic compounds (VOCs), and radon gas. All of these can have detrimental effects on health, so it is important to keep an eye out for any of these pollutants and contact a professional if you suspect their presence.
In the United States, there are several federal regulations in place that deal with indoor air quality. These include the Clean Air Act and the Indoor Air Quality Act, both of which are designed to protect public health. In addition, some states may have additional regulations in place for businesses and other commercial spaces.
The frequency of testing depends on a variety of factors, including the presence of any known pollutants or contaminants and the age of the building. Generally speaking, it is a good idea to have an indoor air quality professional come and evaluate your home or office at least every few years.
There are several steps you can take to improve indoor air quality in your home or office. These include ensuring proper ventilation, using air filters to reduce allergens and pollutants, regularly cleaning and dusting surfaces, and eliminating sources of moisture. If you have any concerns about your indoor air quality, it is always best to contact an indoor air quality professional for testing and evaluation.

We’ve already been a long time customer with Cole Services for our air-conditioning. Today I had the pleasure of working with Drazen and Jacob for replacing our water heater for my parents home. The process was very smooth. It was installed all in the same day, clean, and it was quick. They explained each step of the way and made things very easy for us. I also appreciated Oscar, who helped us with financing. 10/10.
I’d recommend working with them again.

They were respectful of my home, were thorough and explained everything in detail. There was no bait & switch as some companies do and I felt great with their services and care. I have been using Cole for many years and would give them my highest recommendations.

I have been a customer of Cole Services since 2011 when they were able to help me replace my ancient furnace during a very cold December when mine quit. I have continued using them for annual tune ups of that system, and I've also called them in for various plumbing jobs. They've always been super friendly and helpful, and efficient too. They are also up front about costs and good with providing options. Nick was my service technician today, and he was great. I look forward to working with him in the future. I highly recommend Cole Services for your heating/cooling and plumbing needs!
